patchwork stitch...

Have been in the quilting mode, well...only in thought I guess I should say, and it is coming out in my creative process this week.  My good friend is expecting her long awaited second baby in a few months and I am in the brainstorming phase of creating a baby quilt.  Asking a few questions here and there for color ideas, themes, etc. and almost ready to browse the fabric store for the perfect printed pieces.  So, as I am decide on that...a little paper piecing anyone?

This is quite a bit simpler than cutting and stitching together fabric but practice all the same.  To create the base of the card and tag I just cut small squares...not perfectly cut that is... from scrap pieces of paper.  Added adhesive to the backside of each as I placed them in rows.  Stitched along the border and used the Amy Tangerine stitching sets to add the "x" for added color.

Used layers of stickers, an small orange envelope, ribbon and brads to complete the card and tags.  As I am able to get out and about tomorrow, I will have to find a fabric store and pop in for a visit.  I am in love with this though...

Those are not her colors, but I love them!  Here is what she is thinking...

More of the brown and pink, but love this collection too.  This is what I was thinking for the design.

I love the use of jelly roll strips.  Seems like an easy way to create something so beautiful.  Better get started soon though as I will be putting together her shower for June...yikes!    Have you ever created a quilt for someone?

shooting stars...

A extra special Saturday post today, yeah!  I was recently invited to guest design for Studio Calico (card kit) and was completely thrilled for the opportunity.  When the box arrived I dug right in and had a few days of pure artistic happiness.

I love the mix of colors in this kit.  This first project is actually a mini card layered with die cut pieces, polka dot kraft envelope, embellished glassine bag and all kept together using a large clothes pin covered with fabric tape, included in this month's collection.

This next card is my favorite.  Love the mix of the cork letters, pink polka dot paper with matching hemp cord.

Then on to the first card created out of the bunch...

And the perfect colors to end this post with...

What a fun few days and thank you for stopping by today.  A little snooze sounds perfect at the moment and going to try to make that happen.  Enjoy your weekend.  Don't forget to enter my giveaway on the post below by Monday.

two sweet...

My two boys.  Love mornings when doing the rounds of waking them for school when we can steal a few minutes to snuggle.  This little man was very happy to hear it was Friday and today is our slip-n-slide BBQ with friends.  He has been waiting for months for this day when the heat has been turned up outside.  We stocked up on goodies, water balloons and have our water guns ready.  This is going to be one wet Friday, but oh so fun.

So this photo is a little tilted, but sharing it anyway.  Working with the Scrappy Boutique 24/7 Simple Stories Sampler today and love this collection for my boys.

Can you see why I love it?  I am typically drawn to the floral, girly, shabby chic collections...not any longer.  The first layout is one of my favorites.  When I saw this calendar layout I quickly thought of a collage or cutouts.

Very simple to create.  Used a craft knife to cut the paper in an "x".  Use a pen, paintbrush, etc. to curl the paper.  Using cardstock or paper (something that you don't mind using up...for me it was brown cardstock) add your photos where the cutouts will be and adhere.  Now embellish your heart out.  I am beginning to enjoy using Heidi Swapp's Color Shine

I have been afraid of using it for some time as I thought there was a specific way to apply it, but realizing with each project that it is like most craft products...try it, play with it and do what you want!

Think stickers have got me hooked.  So easy to add to projects in layers, they them selves or step them up and out with foam adhesive.

My oldest.  How much I love this little man.   Ran in to our room last night with a nightmare and needed some comfort.  Still a cuddlebug and thankful for those moments.  Love this photo of him.

A perfect match with the sampler.  Used a black charcoal pencil to bring out detail in the background paper and smudged it with my finger...then...layer, layer, layer and then a little Color Shine mist.  A stitch here and there and the layout is complete.  Love the additional add-ons to this sampler with the newsprint paper and tab...I also love reusing the glassine bags in projects.

Ok, one last card for this set today.  Using some scissors to create an apple, leaves and stem.  No need to pull out the die cutting machines for this one.

Now on to our giveaway and winner of our Lily Bee Design paper/embellishment set.  Congratulations Jan Farnworth!  If you can send me a quick email with your mailing address I will ship these out.

orange craze...

Ready for a bit of orange today?  A color that is popping up everywhere and making its way to our house a little here and a little there.  Today it is in my craft space...and boy is it cheery and bright.  This week at American Crafts it is all about stamping.

My kids had a box of wood pieces out on the table one day and I discovered these squares.  The brain starts up and here we are.  Stamped onto the pieces and backed with foam adhesive to attach them to the card.  Added a few stickers and the card is complete.

On to the flowers...always a go to for stamping.

Note:  The notebook paper for the card is slightly taller than the card under, which is why you don't see the folded card behind it.  It lies just below the holes.

I have been in love this picture frame stamp since I first laid eyes on it.  I removed the center and adhered it to punched corrugated paper.  This then creates a dimensional frame for the card background with a sticker peeking through.

In this card I created a stamped background using ink and Copic markers.

And that is a wrap for today.  I am excited to run out quickly and pick up a coffee.  This is a treat as I actually have to jump in the car and drive ten minutes down the road to get it, but today it is necessary.  (I often don't use the car during the week since school, gym, etc. are all within a 5 minute walk.) The house is a bit of a mess, the groceries are slim and at some point the gym is on the schedule.  One extra large latte is calling my name...see you tomorrow.  I have picked a winner for the paper and have a new giveaway to share then as well.

Whether you say mother, mama, mommy or mom...there is so much meaning and love in just one little word.  I wonder how many times I have called out for my mother throughout my life?  She is someone I talk about or talk to on a daily basis.  She is that one person that understands, supports, loves and offers a few kind words to keep me trucking along through the ups and downs of life.   Today's project is all about her.

This project is posted on the Therm O Web blog today, and to read more about the inspiration behind this project head on over to the blog HERE.  I still find comfort in my mother's home and miss it at times.  Wish I could take a bit of it home after visits.

Off to get a bit of a workout in.  Tomorrow, although I promised today, I will post the winner of the current giveaway and post the new one along with the Scrappy Boutique projects I mentioned.  So much to cover...so little time :)  See you on the flip side and enjoy your Wednesday!

Oh...I will also introduce our new addition this week who is currently snuggled in his kennel after a long morning at the dog park.

P.S. Another sneak peek of the Scrappy Boutique project to share tomorrow...

hide and seek...

When the days feel like they are shorter, the list of to-do's is growing longer and the happy moments continue to fill my schedule...I end up spending more time away from my blog unfortunately.  But...I am happy to say that many days working has come to this.  Many projects to share today, tomorrow and several more to come.

It is all about Scrappy Boutique today and their new Simple Stories Samplers!  Oh how I am completely in love with this kit...

It is all about the rustic, vintage floral that helps welcome spring and summer.  All of my favorite colors wrapped up in one amazing collection!

I was flipping through my photos (have so many already printed so they are the first to be featured in a layout) and found this photo of my hubby and I before we were married.  Oh so young and absolutely still love this man to pieces.  We took this photo at our high school in Oregon, all of those amazing trees in the background I miss so much.  The background of the grass seemed to match so well with the papers and embellishments in this kit.  And have I mentioned that I LOVE chipboard stickers...

They are fabulous...yes they are!  Have two more to share so very soon, but they will have to wait for another day.  Come back here tomorrow when I will be putting together another giveaway, announcing the winner of the Lily Bee products and sharing a little from Scrappy Boutique's Simple Stories 24/7 Sampler.

A little peek of course and now off to clean up my craft space and get ready to share some Therm O Web with you tomorrow that is a bit on the shabby chic side...

give, give, givin' it away...

** Note:  This is the second post of the day.  See post below for Pink Paislee post. **

It is time.  Time to say goodbye to some goodies and maybe they can find a home in your craft room?  If you would like to add this large LilyBee Design collection of 12 x 12 (50+ sheets) and 6 x 6 (100+ sheets)  paper, stickers (3 sheets) and journal cards (1 pack) to your craft space add a comment here by Sunday at midnight.  I will pick one fellow commenter/crafter to send them to.

the destination...

There is something so wonderful about the process of creating that draws me in day after day.  Putting your heart in to each layer, finding a little of this and that and sitting back when it is all done to take it all in.  This month at Pink Paislee we, the design team, get the chance to share a little more with you and some (or all) of my favorite collections in one project.  So I did just that...

Think the sentiment sums it up.  The process of creation is the part of the project that I enjoy the most.  Choosing the bits and piece of paper, stickers, chipboard, thread and so much more to make a collage that is pleasing to my eye and gets me to smile.  I used a bit of every collection for this project.  I began by punching out stamps (Fiskars punch) and went from there.  Wanted pops of color, texture (hard and soft) and...you know I have to take it up a few levels and add that adhesive foam.  This is a perfect way to summarize my creative style.  What would you add to create your own collage?  Why not give it a go and enjoy the journey of your artistic process this weekend?

Thanks for stopping by and enjoy your weekend!

sweet heart...

Off to a bit of a slow start this morning and hoping that the coffee sets in any minute.  The house is quiet, puppy sleeping, glitter drying on a new project and cleaned off my computer desk in hopes that the day will bring more creating.  I am in the mood for something new...something unusual...something colorful...something unique, but what?  I am going to look for inspiration today and hope that it will come to me.  Thinking triangles for some reason...we shall see.  Before I get to the day, a little Scrappy Boutique and American Crafts to get my spring day started.

There is something about orange, yellow and red lately that I am in love with...as you will see soon in a few of my projects.  Maybe with the garden flowers in bloom outside my office window it is calling to me.  Love the marigolds right now.

Gotta love chipboard stickers.  Paired this with a little stamp from Papertrey Ink to complete the sentiment and added the die cut hearts to pink wire for a little fun off the page.

Time to finish my garden inspired project that is just about dry.  Our garden continues to grow and just planted more seeds to keep our garden growing continuously.  So much to learn as we go, but worth every minute.  There really is something exciting about placing a seed in the ground and watching a plant grow a little each day into something edible.  It is much like crafting, but takes a bit longer.  Our first pepper is growing, our pea plants are crawling up the trellis and our lettuce is sprouting so many new leaves.  I could fill my whole patio with planters, but keeping my self in check as I have had to do over time in my craft space....see, similar.

Enjoy your Monday and remember to check out Pink Paislee this week as they continue the Craft N Connect event all month long.  So much fun!  My post will come on Friday...stay tuned!
